Is there a TV fandom you've been trying to get people into, or a show you generally love and think others would enjoy? Rec your favorite TV shows and discuss.

Please make a separate comment for each TV series, using this format:

I DO have a TV rec. I'm so glad you asked.

Title: Roswell, New Mexico
Length: S1 is 13 episodes. S2 premieres Monday, and it has already been renewed for S3. S1 is on Netflix.
Description: A Jenga tower of secrets starts to collapse when Liz Ortecho returns to her hometown 10 years after high school graduation.
Comments: This is a reboot of the original Roswell series--but with way more diversity. Latinx characters, a gay disabled veteran, a bisexual man. For more specific information about individual characters, plots, and possible triggers, I have an overview on my DW.

Title: The Repair Shop
Length: 2 seasons available on Netflix in the US, although there have been 5 seasons on BBC
Description: People bring in family heirlooms that are in need of repair and a team of professional restorers bring them back to life.
Comments: I love the respectful way the team approach each project, ranging from 1960s Dalek toys to fine art to musical instruments and more. No matter what the item is, it's so important to the person who brings it in. The reveal, when it's presented to the owner, often makes me tear up a bit.

I LOVE The Repair Shop - the team are all so skilled and it's so satisfying to see them bring the items back to usability, to the finish that the owner wants. It makes me weepy too, but it's the best kind of weepy.

Title: Mobile Suit Gundam Wing
Length: 49 episodes, available on Crunchyroll
Description: Yay mecha! Yay youngsters from the repressed space colonies taking on the oppressive Earth-based governing and military machine! Giant piloted robots! General batshittery!
Comments: I could (and very well may) rec several Gundam series, but hey, Wing's 25th anniversary is rolling up next month so here we are 83 And I do love the series, as hilariously over-the-top as it may get. (once you accept that the entire cast is off their rocker, each in their own way, it's a much smoother ride, lol.) Wing was also wierdly prescient in its way, like regarding drones, but that's less important compared to the dramatic antics. Like most older series it does make use of some recycled footage in battle scenes; just a heads-up.

Yoroiden Samurai Troopers (Ronin Warriors)

Title: Yoroiden Samurai Troopers (first localized in English as Ronin Warriors)
Length: 39 episodes, available on Crunchyroll
Description: One part shonen fighting, one part magical boys with transforming armour, one part more historical references than you can shake a stick at. Arago's coming roaring up out of the netherworld to take over (and/or eat people souls) and the Troopers are the lads destined to stop him and his horde provided Nasuti gets them pointed in the right direction.
Comments: Sometimes you just want to watch a fun show and YST is a good one for that; it has a small rough patch where the series was extended, but it rides it out pretty well. Magical armour, transformation sequences, learning to fight together and all that fun stuff. It's not deep, but it doesn't have to be -- which is a good reason to avoid the later oav sequels at all costs unless you just happen to be curious.
